Industrial Conveyor Platform

D20-one were commissioned to provide the structural modelling, analysis and design and of a new conveyor platform at an existing industrial site. Using Tekla Structural Designer we replicated the 3D structural arrangement, modelling in the primary steelwork and bracing configuration.

The project involved developing a steel support frame capable of carrying not only conveyor loads, but also walkways for operators to access machinery. Careful consideration was given to load paths, especially at connection points, member sizing, bracing positioning and overall structural efficiency of the frame.

Lateral stability was maintained through bracing and connections which was challenging due to the elevated working areas, staircases, and support columns. Bracing had to avoid machinery as well as allow access to key locations for the machine operators.

Throughout the design process, we have refined the framing layout to optimise constructability and coordination with the conveyor system. We have considered the fabrication process and how the different elements can be fabricated before arriving at site.
